Almond oil, Your new favorite skincare ingredient

General benefits

Almond oil is not just another plant derived oil, it’s different in many ways from other conventionally used natural oils in skincare. There was many renditions of our signature lip balms before we settled on this magical oil and these were some of the deciding factors:

  • Rich in vitamins and antioxidants: Almond oil contains a significant amount of vitamin E, an essential for effective lip soothing and healing. Vitamin E also protects skin from oxidative damage. It also contains vitamin A which supports skin health.
  • Moisturizing/emollient properties: Almond oil has a fatty acid profile, helping to lock in moisture and support the skin barrier. Its properties create a light barrier, minimizing hydration loss, but also preventing a greasy texture.
  • Good for sensitive skin: Almond oil is considered suitable for sensitive skin, considering its mildness and non-harsh nature.

Why we use Almond Oil

When creating the formula for our line of lip balms, it was a difficult choice with so many natural oils to choose from. We were looking for an oil that was light on the lips, created a pleasant texture, moisturized effectively, and most importantly, replaced the need to add tocopherol (vitamin E serum). Tocopherol is notoriously highly processed and derived from soy, making it a turn off for many people when seen on an ingredient label.

Why its a better choice than other oils

While there are other great solutions out there for other natural emollient additives for lip balms, almond oil takes the cake for us. It is MUCH lighter than other choices such as castor or olive oil, making our lip balms glide significantly smoother than our competition. Its vitamin E content is also higher than other oils, providing more protection than other lip balms that do not supplement tocopherol. And one of the biggest pros has to be the scent, almond oil emits a slightly nutty, but neutral scent, making our lip balms smell fantastic without having to over incorporate any fragrance.
